Fireside Learning: Conversations about Education

Massive Online Open Courses now have their own acronym (MOOC) and are drawing some research. Here's a 'paper' investigating the technological components of such courses based one on case study - and incidentally, suggesting a minimal role from social networking tools - from Ning to Twitter. The two major positive vehicles were a mailing list daily bulletin (shades of your classicists, Laura!) and Elluminate.

I've only skimmed the research which is part of a major issue from IRRDOL - an online journal dedicated to distance and online learning.

Any relevance? Any thoughts?
