I have a rather elementary question — how does one go about uploading a video (for instance, from YouTube or Ted) onto a blog?

I think you can copy the embed code from youtube into your blog text.

I suspect, as long your blog comment allows formatting, that you can use the same embed code.
(What I'd do, is simply try it; it shouldn't break anything!)
