Yes, so appropriate, so cute--let's have our little group go viral, in the best possible way!! ;-)

Hmm,
I can't resist it.

Connie, do you think this group will go viral?

And Florence Nightingale's innovative charting of statistics - to keep the interest of Queen Victoria! (I think I've already mentioned this in Florigelia.)

Ian, I love your suggestion for study--Snow's work on cholera.
Maybe we can collect a bunch of these epidemiological investigations, and book suggestions, too? Wonder if anyone likes reading this stuff. I find it a fascinating topic.

Ian! Oh boy, a guest! Here, use the disinfectant gel, and tissues are available when you need them.
And just to make sure you use proper hygiene, I'll post a link to a really funny and informative video, "Cough Safe"! Such fun. (Actually I do use it in class, and recommend that everyone in school shows it. Kids really remember it. We offer ratings to each other every now and then...)
Anyhow, so glad you're here. It was mighty lonely.
I'm trying to get Jessica, my advisor and a UM ISR PhD Epidemiologist, to join. But she's not familiar with this whole networking thing yet. She just joined Twitter, so there's hope. If she comes, greet her and pass the Purell, ok?

Alright Connie,
Can't have you isolated in epidemiology. I always kick back to the great work of Snow with the Broad St pump map in London, identifying the source of cholera in a 19th century outbreak - I think it would be a great example of practical science and medicine, easily grasped and inspiring for inquisitive young minds.

No one even comes in this little group here, probably because they're afraid they'll catch something! Oh, don't worry. The picture of the virus I put up is the common cold virus, nothing to worry about. And if you're in education, you probably have an immune system of steel, anyhow.

I know, you're thinking "What the ****?!" Why is this up on an educational conversation network?

Comes from years of being emergency manager at school, attending emergency training and planning conferences, and also from having a high level of fascination with epidemiology.

And a fascination with how we can help each other in all situations by spreading factual, rational, useful information--in a calm manner.

So, this section of Fireside Learning is presented to you by me, as a kind of public service. Use it! Be in the know, be prepared. Knowledge is power!
