Fireside Learning: Conversations about Education

"Selling Bones" --The Economist

This article could make an interesting starting point in an investigation; a good study for students. How much do bones sell for? Why? What observations can be made about the market cycles for dinosaur bones? Are other bones valuable? What about fossils?

What do we know about the black market for bones? How might that market influence the legal selling of bones?

Think about human bones: can they be sold? When is it disrespectful to sell human bones, and/or put them on display in a museum? When is it ok? How old does a bone have to be to be "just a bone" and not "someone's ancestor"? What are the different views about all that?
