I am a student at Grand Valley State University. I am majoring in English with an elementary education minor. I hope to teach early elementary in the near future.
About Me:
I am a senior at GVSU with a major in English and an elementary education minor. I enjoy camping, shopping, spending time with family and friends, and amusement parks. I am engaged and getting married in the summer of 2009!

Thinking routines

As a student who is almost done with my education. I just found out about thinking routines and all the different types there are. I feel like I should have learned them a long time ago. I was wondering if teachers actually use them and if they do which ones they use. Does it help students think more about a particular subject? Does it getting them talking more in class and in groups becuase they are expanding their thinking and not just answering the yes/no questions? Is it just used for an ope… Continue

Kindergarten Teaching

I just substitute taught for my first time ever. I chose a school that I graduated from, so I would feel more comfortable. I also chose a kindergarten classroom for only half a day (3 1/2 hours). The children were wonderful in the beginning, but when it came to math they were horrible. I could not get them to stop talking, some of the students did not have their math books because they left them at home and others just wanted to talk to eachother.
