Tell about your involvement in education, and your ideals for collegial sharing
The idea to share views on education with colleagues worldwide intrigued me. We have similar networks here but I would like to know more about other school-sytems. I have a computer-group at my school. The students and me work on developing websites, trying to cross the bridge of bringing our history projects into virtual life. If you want to take a look at my school, try www.private-fos.de but I'm afraid it's all in German ;-)
About Me:
I`m a teacher for English, Computer Science and History at a German Fachoberschule in Munich, teaching kids from 17-19. I discovered this page when I was looking up my own name at Google. Must have been a lucky coincidence ;-) My real first name is Corinna but I have been called Conny since I was a kid and so the name stuck. I also have a diploma in website developing and worked as as web-designer for a big advertising agency for a few years but went back to teaching in 2002 because I missed it so much. I still do some website-developing for private customers everynow and then.

Hi Conny,
Long time no see! Hope you're doing well. How did your ning work out? Are you happy with the networking the kids did? What's going on for you now?
My German student did brilliantly--I'm simply amazed at how he learned English so quickly. And he absolutely loved class... Thanks for your advice and support.

Hey, great! I'll look at your ning. I have an interpreter in my class, my German student! By the way, he's from Burghausen.

Hi Conny - no, it wasn't my email that went missing on the 17th.

Hi Conny! It is exciting to have someone in Germany here! I used to live in Poland (back in the late 80s, when it was "People's Poland"), so I did a bit of traveling around Germany, too. There are so many beautiful and fascinating places to see. I envy you being able to just get on a train and be whisked away to magical places! :-)

Hi Conny! So glad to have you here. It'll be nice to hear about your work with students' websites and history projects, and also to learn about your system of education. We'll all share perspectives.

By the way, I just (3 days ago) got a German student in my class who speaks no English--and am eager to get some ideas about how best to guide him right now. Any ideas you have are welcome. He's in fifth grade. What would make him feel most comfortable, and what work should I have him do at this point?

Anyhow, so glad you found Fireside and have become a member of the community. It'll be fun! (I hope you'll forgive me if I spell your name incorrectly now and then; I'll forgive you! My real name is Constance, by the way.)

Nice to meet you Conny, and it will be good to hear your input in the book reading group as well as wherever else you share.
Welcome.
