I don't even lok for the chat options any more, since mostly there is a time disconnect. I may have to pay a little more attention now that know I've missed one opportunity I'd have valued.
Winter was wet - very wet. Drought-breakingly wet. SO building programmes are well behind, rivers are running, dams are fuller than for many a year. Currently, we are enjoying sun, warmth and dry. I'm hoping this weather keeps up for a while - then we can get our (Hobart) house exterior renovations completed, children established and return to work in our Penguin one!
I'll enjoy your seasonal presence Janet!
Hey, someone else has to get back into the saddle--namely, me. I've been swamped this semester. It's making my priorities very clear, however, so I've been immersed in a good lesson. My priorities involve getting back to more time here, and more pondering, more conversation with colleagues in our learning community. Life has its ebbs and flows... I'm monitoring my "flow" better as I end this ridiculous term. Too much going on.
Can't wait to hear what you're learning about school structures in Michigan. I'm learning a lot, too--and not what I'd be hoping to hear. Learning about Detroit schools is wild--and they must truly be the "ground zero" for education. (However, can't say I like Arnie Duncan's plans for reform...)
You and Rod would be a great team for a presentation for the PZ Washington conference; I hope it goes through.
Yeah, call and we'll figure out a time to meet, maybe halfway between our places?
Oh yeah, and PS: speaking of getting back into the saddle, I'm thinking about getting another horse... It's truly a buyer's market for horses in Michigan, as you could guess. My dream: a "paint." You know those horses?
Always nice to see you out and about. I really value thoughtful presence when you can squeeze in some time!
I think about you all the time...How are you?
It's so hard to keep up once the regular routine gets going.
Wasn't it wonderful seeing each other last summer? Did I say I would come visit you this year? Okay, well, you can visit me too, ya know.
Are you going to D.C.?
Write when you can.
Jane
How's the new year? Are things hopping? How's my favorite "bag-lady"?
Thinking of you! Got any ideas for things we should be thinking about on Fireside? Would love to hear from you.
Are you going to apply for the PZ conference in Washington?
Connie
It was so good to see you at PZ. Thank you for your welcome to fireside and for the wonderful references you gave to me in the area of literacy. Much appreciated.
Best,
Mary
What a delight to see your triply-addressed greeting! I am exhausted but well enough. This year has turned very demanding in 'professional' demands and very little relief from them in favour of creative class interaction, or even timely preparation and correction. On the other hand, our estate duties are coming to a conclusion, and we have a house renovation project we're embarking upon (for ourselves and our children).
