Tell about your involvement in education, and your ideals for collegial sharing
I have been involved with Project Zero for over a decade now. Currently, I am the curriculum and staff coordinator for the middle and upper schools at the Washington (DC) International School, and I serve each summer as one of two coordinators for the education program at the Project Zero Classroom. I have been using the Teaching for Understanding framework in my practice for many years; I was a high school English teacher for many years.

As for collegial sharing, I believe it should take place on an ongoing basis in a variety of ways. I have enjoyed organizing and participating in faculty study and/or inquiry groups; taking online professional development courses; sharing in online forums such as this one; and being part of professional networks, like this one, the International Baccalaureate, or Project Zero.
About Me:
I live and work in Washington, DC. For ten years I lived in Brussels, Belgium, and taught in international schools there. I finished a doctorate in Curriculum and Instruction at the George Washington University in spring 2008. My partner Yannick and I have been together since 1987.

I'm an avid tennis player, reader, and filmgoer. Yannick and I travel to far-flung places and spend most of our holidays away from home.

Jim,
I just ordered the Teaching for Understanding book connected with technology. I found it on Amazon after Connie's suggestion for the David Perkins book. It's my first introduction to the concept. I couldn't decide which of their books to purchase, so settled on the tech version, as I'm trying to become more computer savvy...

Jim.
How nice to see you online. Connie said she's been working on you. I've got a class of preservice teachers on board and am trying to see how they and others respond to the opportunity. For several of my students -- it has been a unique opportunity to interact on a somewhat regular basis with other educators at different stages in their careers. Some of the preservice teachers have also started fruitful and interesting discussions.

See you around the site.

Welcome Jim,
Nice to see you aboard - I'll look forward to getting to know you more.

Enjoy the Fireside! (not sure how you can be aboard a fireside without major injury but still...)
