Really preparing human minds...

Compared to some other species we remain relatively helpless for a considerable period of time. With our large brains we do catch up and become powerfully intelligent and adaptable but the method of transmitting the knowledge we possess to our offspring takes time and intentional effort.

Throughout history this teaching time has represented a bit of a liability to humans. Only after people began to gather in clans, villages, city…

Could Steve Jobs happen again?

I met this kid in a Texas classroom recently. He looks a lot like a young Steve Jobs. Are we nurturing young minds so they might become the kinds of inventors and visionaries that Steve Jobs was?

It’s a question…

Moving to the Airstream cloud?

In using the iPad I have been trying to discover the answer to the

frequently ask question: Can that thing replace my laptop? I still

travel with both devices and seek to fly iPad solo soon but there are

still things I need that I can't do with the iPad. I Use iWeb to build

and maintain my websites and I cannot interface without eh design end

of things with the iPad. An iPad lite version of iWeb would be useful

but I fear that the small (16 gig) HD on the device… Continue

How can we move into a future we cannot completely understand?

I'm flying toward Arizona and the AzTea WoW conference where I'll be

speaking to administrators this evening about school leadership in the

21st century. It sounds generic but I consider this a sacred

opportunity. I know the importance of school leadership and I

understand the power that comes from administrators having a vision for

positive change. I want to seize this and every opportunity like it to

inspire or re-inspire these people to take the helm of their… Continue

Big is the new small

In the last few days I've been test

driving the new Apple iPad and I have a few thoughts about it as a

product and an experience. In the interest of full disclosure, I'll

admit upfront to being an Apple fan of many years. I've had an iPhone

for some time and have marked well it's strengths and weaknesses as a

phone and a computer and I find that the iPad with wifi delivers an

experience not unlike that of the iPhone. The major ah ha…

Thanks Kevin,
I was just able to pick up the metaphor and stretch it a little. Glad it was helpful!

Hi Kevin,
I was just trying to "feature" you but then since I'm on dial-up it takes so many minutes between page-loads (especially on your profile, with all the pictures and "action components"!) that I'm not sure where we are, "unfeatured," which is the start point, or "featured," which is where I'm trying to get to. So no matter what ends up, consider yourself featured, and we'd just love to hear from you. How are your endeavors going?
Oooooo... dial up is just so slow. I'll fix everything when I'm at high speed later!
Thinking of you--
Happy New Year!

Hi Kev!
Next week is good for me for idea-skyping, with Wednesday being the best. Looking forward to seeing you!

Hi Kevin!
You've been on my mind a lot lately.
Congratulations for having 3000 people on Art Snacks!!!!
I have to tour your place; have been missing it. Got my class regrouped on an ELGG network; now I can start sending them places! If you have suggestions for joining in on Art Snacks, let me know. There are so many possibilities. If you have a starting suggestion, it'd be welcome.
Hi to Ginger, and tell her I'd love to collaborate with her on projects--and that goes for you, too.
Hey, are you traveling and doing demos this year?

Hi Kevin,

I forgot where we left the idea of putting up Driving Questions on Fireside. It'd be SO great... would you consider?

Hey, my kids have so many projects right now we haven't been over to Art Snacks (except individually) lately. Next week is camp, but the week after that we'll be back at Art Snacks cruising around and enjoying ourselves....

Thanks so much for your tremendously valuable network!

Hey Kevin, long time no see! My starbucks, "Tiensa", is doing well, but she is getting older : (. It is a little sad, though she doesn't seem to care at all- she does exactly as she pleases, even more so now that she is the senior (in her mind) member of the family. I will try to add a photo of her here:

We are walking along the Columbia River, later she will catch (and eat!! ugh!) rodents up in the field. As I said, she does as she pleases : )

Hey Kevin, I have admired your pic of Starbuck since my first day on this ning thing- today I discovered who it is attached to (my head is swimming, it is dumb luck I find anything.)

Anyway, our beloved huskie/shepard mix was almost named Starbucks because of how she came to us. My husband went for a four block walk to get us coffee, and came home with a puppy! Totally unexpected and such a joy.

She is ten now, and still such a wonderful treat.

Ay, Mr. Starbuck!

Always remember who is in charge of the ship.
