Hello Melissa,

So glad to have you here. You can provide a vital role by joining in on discussions here, modeling this sort of 21st-century connection in your professional development work.

Also, please let us know how the site seems to a newcomer. Are you used to networks, particularly nings? I'd be interested in how easy it is to find your way around, and any suggestions you might have for helpful hints for incoming participants (such as the teachers you're working with).

Please join right in on the conversations. Be active, try stuff.

Which study group leaders did you work with at PZC?

See you around--enjoy the rest of the summer, and stay connected!

Hi Melissa,
Glad to hear you're enjoying Wordle. I find it so fascinating to see a visual of the activity of words in a written piece. It taps into a whole new realm of perception.

Welcome to Fireside, Melissa. Sounds like you've had (and continue to have) a rich and varied experience in the teaching field. It's wonderful to have you here.

Tell about your involvement in education, and your ideals for collegial sharing
I have taught grades K, 1, 2, and 5 but find myself out of the classroom for the first time this year. I am in a new position at my school working on curriculum and professional development with teachers. This summer I attended PZ as a fellow. This experience is really shaping how I am working with the teachers at my school. I look forward to visiting this site to learn about and share resources.
About Me:
I am originally from the San Francisco Bay Area but have lived in Luxembourg, Ecuador, Tanzania, Italy and currently live in Costa Rica. I am very interested in language acquisition and the natural development of number sense. Attending a SEED (Seeking Educational Equity and Diversity) training in California seven years ago really made an impact on me in terms of thinking about perspectives and in how to facilitate groups so the space is safe for people to speak. I look forward to learning more about this group.
