I am a middle school educator who currently teaches Language Arts, level one French, and exploratory French and Spanish. I recently completed a Master's in Language, Literacy and Culture, which is a fancy way to describe Reading and Writing Curriculum and Instruction.

I would like to read about and share classroom ideas. What are other teachers doing in the classroom? How are educators managing rigorous and relevant instruction even when their classrooms are packed and they have to juggle multiple preparations? Are there any teachers/researchers out there? And publications, who's writing for professional purposes and how do they approach this kind of work?

Nings & Blogs: As I see it in a nutshell

Though in thier seventies, my parents are world class travelers. Three times a year in four to six week incriments, they travel way off the beaten path to places that most people never consider, and they've crossed so many boarders that they've had to send their passports back to the Federal government in order to obtain addendum pages. For the most part, they've seen the world on their own, without the assistance of travel agencies and tour guides. They've mastered the art of arranging… Continue

Hello, Hello, Ms. Whatsit!
Thanks so much for joining Fireside Learning. It'll be so great to have you be part of the discussions.
I hope you share some pictures of your beautiful state--in my mind, one of the most glorious of all.
I've spent extended camping time in the Colorado Rockies, sometimes 6 weeks at a time. And each time I did NOT want to leave, just wanted to stay in the furious beauty of that land.
I like your "puddy."

Nice to see you on board. Rigorous and relevant instruction! Well, I try to maintain it by staying fresh! Classroom 2, Ning in Education, and now here are a couple of places to feed me. There's reading. (On and off topic) And my final technique is to minimise the minutiae (that means that things important for others and not me, I'll need to be nagged about - sorry, admins). We can get so bogged down by the bureaucracy of modern education that rigour, relevance and instruction all disappear in a flurry of scores, tests, reports and assessments.
Look forward to reading your voice. Delete Comment
