- Tell about your involvement in education, and your ideals for collegial sharing
- I am an artist teaching painting, drawing, creative process and yoga. Most of my collaborative work has been cross disciplinary, including many years of work with poet, Rishma Dunlop and my video and sound installation "Crossing Boundary" working with a biologist, cinematographer, sound designer and video editor. I am currently working with a butterfly farm in Costa Rica, a sustainable community project involving reforestation, rainforest protection and employment for local people.

I am really enjoying your contributions to Fireside. I love how you see the humor as well as the artistic beauty in nature.
I'm also impressed that you have figured out how to use the techno-tools to upload videos already! I'm still struggling with this and hope to get one up soon.
Here's something regarding posting comments that you might not have discovered yet (it took me awhile to figure this one out):
Members are only alerted (via e mail) that they have a comment if it is posted on their own page. Any comment you post on your page shows up on your page only and members don't receive an e mail alert that they have a message from you there.
I mention this as you left some very nice messages on your page for folks who might not have seen them yet. I alerted Connie that she had messages from you there, so she read them today and was delighted to see them.
There is also an option to send private messages to members by clicking the "send a message" button under their photo on their page. Those messages can only be viewed by the person to whom it is sent and they receive an e mail alert that they have a message from you. (they clilck on the link in the e mail and it takes them to it).
I'm loving hearing from you and I echo Connie's sentiments: more! Anything you'd like to share. :-)

how easy to get used to high speed. I am sure there is tons of information out there about these creatures but they were new to me and I just found them comical and fascinating. I know these kinds of fascinating interrelationships are everywhere, Vince has added another, but in the rainforest there is a clear sense of that - life piled on top of life. There was an orange tree at the farm that was a massive community of bromeliads and orchids, vines and ferns. Not so great for the orange production but bursting with other opportunistic life.

- thank you Ian. I am interested to read of your interest in the relationship between science and religion. Do have a sense that the division is falling away? That we made the division up? Feels like that to me, and feels important, even though I have no formal training in either discipline.

- HI Connie, taking a break from doing follow-up work for the butterfly farm. I can't see your blog on the list, what am I missing?? I loved reading your profile, though, especially the part about the burrs. You paint a great picture. Do you like Annie Dillard?
I have had an obsessive interest with crow behaviour, spent three years working on my project "Crossing Boundary" which was about the daily migration of the entire Pacific Northwest crow population from the city of Vancouver to their communal roost outside the city. Imagine a mob of about 16,000 crows. absolutely gothic. I worked with Rob Butler, the biologist who is the expert on these particular crows and with Rudy Kovanic, a cinematographer with lots of experience working with nature docs and tv. I did a three channel video and sound installation at the Surrey Art Gallery museum near here and supported it with drawings and paintings of crows and nests, poetry from Rishma Dunlop, artifacts and correspondance. This is what I was writing to you about then my first post went astray!
So, I have shared your experience of awe in the face of a mob of crows and found it beautiful. Those are exactly the kinds of experiences that I jump off of to do my creative work. The emerging of the butterfly ranks right up there, too, although so quiet and private in comparison.
I am anxious to finish the work for my friends in Costa Rica so that I can get back into the studio to pick up the work I began before my trip. I am working with the human figure, paintings, always a pull for me, never simple.

- Something about crows: I blogged about an experience in which I saw crows' mobbing behavior. Have you ever seen that? If you want to see my account, go to members (a tab at the top of the page), search for Connie Weber, then when you arrive on my page you scroll down to the bottom where "blogs" are posted. The title of the blog is "running and thinking." In the writing I was thinking about parallels between crow and human behaviors.
Have you ever painted or drawn sandhill cranes? We just saw a few, the first who have migrated back to Michigan after their winter down south. Have you heard their haunting calls? Reminds me of the songs of the dinosaur age...
