Hi Ian! The whole Klein thing has been such a surprising disappointment: Barry is a true believer, and the book got some "this book fell to us from heaven and was written by a god" reviews at Amazon, and then there was that whole Yahoo Group with dozens of members and hundreds of messages dedicated to reading it... which made me so curious! But alas, it has reinforced my existing HYPOTHESIS (in Platonic terms, ha ha) that I really do not like Plato at all, not in any way, shape or form. But it's good to have confronted that in a really serious way... and probably a final way: I will now gladly live the rest of my life not even feeling vaguely guilty that I have not read more Plato.
In researching about Arthur Zajonc the other day, I discovered anthroposophy (I had never heard of it before, but of course I run into the theosophists all the time in the Indian stuff I work on)... what a fascinating little part of the world of the mind! It explains a lot of about the materials he includes in the light book that come from Zoroastrian tradition, etc. - anyway, I consider it all to be serendipitously related, since I got the Zajonc book to begin with to qualify for free shipping when I ordered the Klein book from Amazon, ha ha. :-)

Hi Ian, thanks for the welcome! Also looking forward to discussions. The Klein book just arrived last night. I'll be setting into it this weekend and hopefully making posts as I go.
Thanks, Ian. so much great thinking and communicating going on from down under. Looking forward to participating from Miami Beach. If you are interested in visual literacy/thinking skills methodology and research, I recommend you visit www.vts.org and learn about Visual Thinking Strategies.
Thanks for the warm welcome. I'm looking foward to putting my feet up near the fire and letting it warm my body and mind. Can't wait for the summer campfires and time with family.
Hi Ian, thanks for your kind words; the network is in it's infancy and there is a lot to be done. I want to offer real value to teachers and students through this network. You have some very interesting pictures! Thanks for sharing :-)
Hi Ian,
I heard it on NPR. They had some in-depth coverage on it. Yes, I remember that the cane toads are poisonous, but it seemed like the hunting skills could be honed. I'm into it. Bagging venemous toads, $50 a head... Sport. I don't need to feel sorry for them, right? Imported from Hawaii, taking over their localities as an overpowering invasive species... Should be ok to hunt them. So, I'm buying my ticket and counting on catching enough to make up the difference. ;-)
Hi Ian,
I heard about the bounty offered on a specific kind of Australian frogs: $50 apiece! I am an expert frog hunter. Should I come? Think I could break even on the trip? What do you know about these frogs?
Ian,
OH DEAR. I just read below, Connie's post, that you lost your sister. I'm so sorry. I'm sending you hope and love and the strength I have to spare (I'm told I have a lot, so that means you are getting a lot sent) and, I guess I now learned another reason to stay consistently connected.

Ian, thinking of you and sending you strength, peace, inner-resources, and the blessings of the universe as you help your sister with hospice care and bedside watch. Be good to yourself; don't forget to take your vitamins and eat healthy foods, rest.
I'm sure you're a great source of strength to those around you.

Thanks for your welcome back. Much to write about, but I'll have to wait until I'm back from yet another trip this week. :-)
