Fireside Learning: Conversations about Education

Jarbas Agnelli from Brazil, 46, spotted a picture of the birds in a newspaper and noticed they were arranged like notes on a musical score.
'I cut out the photo and decided to make a song, using the exact location of the birds as notes,' he said.
'I knew it wasn't the most original idea in the universe. I was just curious to hear what melody the birds were creating.'

I love it! If you don't count the bottom string (which isn't gathered together with the rest anyway), one could play this score on the ukulele : )

Connie was talking about working with environmental sounds and intentionally created music with her students this year- this gives one more twist to that idea. I'm going to go look for what patterns I can find outside to try out on my uke :D

What a total gas! How fun, how delightful. I'm showing it in class. Thank you so much, Ed! The videos you've been putting up lately are fantastic--including especially the one you made, "Words of Advice."
Thank you for enriching Fireside so much with your thoughtful syntheses, your creativity, your questions.
Hey, have you seen my forum, soliciting ideas for a "nature into music" project?
