Fireside Learning: Conversations about Education

What did you learn in school today?

A song by the wonderful gift to us all - Pete Seeger.

This song says to me -- we teachers must reclaim always the high ground. The high ground that asks students to be "questioners" not blind marchers and moralizers.

It isn't easy to do but we must....as MLK Jr. shouted, "Let freedom ring..." and the only way to do that is to give students the tools to not let their schooling get in the way of their education....

PS. I posted this previously but Youtube sent me packing. They don't want "Freedom to ring" ...however I'm ringing the bell again and uploading this again for us.

The prophets are never out of date, David! (And I am so often trailing along behind - why can't I remember these things. I shouldn't need reminding, I should be minding them always!)

Thanks for the reminder.
